11 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT F-TYPE SVR
Faster. Lighter. Louder. More powerful. F-TYPE SVR has been developed by the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations team – a group of experts and specialists who take luxury, performance and craftsmanship to the next level. Here are 11 things you need to know about the F-TYPE SVR, the first Jaguar SVR model to be developed by the Special Vehicle Operations team.
"Our objective was to take everything that our customers love about F-TYPE - the performance, the handling, the sound, the design - and take it to a whole new level. This is what the new F-TYPE SVR delivers: it's a 200mph all-weather supercar.”
– John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations
THE F-TYPE SVR IS THE MOST POWERFUL SERIES PRODUCTION ROAD CAR WE'VE EVER PRODUCED.
Featuring the latest evolution of Jaguar’s 5.0-litre ‘Twin Vortex’ supercharged V8, the F-TYPE SVR delivers the ultimate performance. Changes to the engine’s calibration have been adapted from the F-TYPE Project 7 model to deliver power and torque ratings of 575PS and 700Nm. SVR is offered exclusively with Jaguars AWD system which helps deliver outstanding, confident handling in all conditions.
IT'S LIGHTER, WITH A WHOLE VEHICLE WEIGHT REDUCTION OF 25KG COMPARED TO THE F-TYPE R AWD.
Despite adding weight in vital areas such as aerodynamic undertray, roll bar and heavy duty bearings, SVR is up to 50kg lighter with options including the Carbon Ceramic Matrix brake system and carbon fibre roof.
IT'S FASTER. ACCELERATION FROM 0-60MPH IN JUST 3.5 SECONDS.
The model also has a top speed of 200mph for the Coupé. The forces acting upon the car at 200mph are significant; the new ‘V-MAX’ mode ensures that SVR is optimised to achieve this blistering speed.
THE F-TYPE SVR'S GROWL PACKS A PUNCH.
Titanium and Inconel exhaust system not only delivers a 16kg weight saving above the standard system, but also delivers an even more purposeful, harder-edged sound. Listen below.
FUEL CONSUMPTION AND CO2 EMISSIONS STAY THE SAME.
Despite the gains in performance, compared to the F-TYPE R fuel consumption and CO2 emissions remain unchanged. This is partly due to the significant work undertaken around weight and aerodynamics.
REDUCE DRAG CUTS LIFT FOR ENHANCED AERODYNAMICS.
To cut drag, the front bumper was extended outboard to mask as much of the wheels as possible – helping the airflow remain attached to the sides of the car.
SVR AERODYNAMICS AND COOLING SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY ENHANCED.
The aero package for SVR brings a significant upgrade, above F-TYPE R. The key aerodynamic performing elements include; front bumper with new fender vents (to enhance brake cooling and reduce drag through slip-stream), aerodynamic section wing as well as aerodynamic front and rear underfloor and venture.
To improve cooling, the auxiliary radiator has been relocated and the bumper beam profile and inlet trumpet size have been reduced.
F-TYPE SVR FEATURES BESPOKE INTERIOR STYLING WITH EXQUISITE DETAILING.
The link between the F-TYPE SVR model and the original F-TYPE concept, C-X16, is evident in the interior.
Featuring a distinctive Lozenge Quilt pattern and unique suede cloth to make the cabin driver-focussed, SVR acts as a modern salute to Jaguars heritage. You’ll also find delicate detailing such as contrast stitching and micro-piping, as well as headrests embossed with the SVR logo.
IT FEATURES LIGHT, YET DURABLE, FORGED ALUMINIUM WHEELS SPECIALLY DEVELOPED FOR SVR.
Bespoke 265/35/ZR20 and 305/30/ZR20 tyres provide exceptional levels of grip with no detriment to ride quality or refinement. The forged ‘Maelstrom’ and ‘Coriolis’ wheels deliver savings of up to 13.8kg.
GREATER STIFFNESS FOR SUPERIOR CONTROL AND A MORE SPORTING DRIVE.
Stiffer rear knuckles bring a c0.6kg weight saving against the CCM knuckle. The reduced weight, coupled with forged wheels, allow the springs and shock absorbers to be more effective at controlling the suspension. The system brings a 37% increase in camber stiffness over core F-TYPE knuckles. Stiffness improves handling characteristics and gives greater resistance to flex, particularly beneficial in heavy cornering.
ENHANCED AERODYNAMICS THANKS TO THE CARBON FIBRE ACTIVE REAR WING.
Not only is the rear wing essential to the SVR’s performance, it also adds drama to the overall look. SVR’s aero wing produces more down-force and, crucially, less drag than F-TYPE Coupe’s rear spoiler. It’s more effective and more aerodynamically efficient in both raised and lowered and positions. The aero wing is the key to SVR achieving its top speed of 200mph.
